![]() ![]() I'd been meaning for years to read a William book, and finally took the time to get hold of one recently - Sweet William, an "original" hardback with dustjacket, etc. These observations are based on my own collection such as it is, so it won’t be the full story. (A bit late to pose that question now I suppose!) But why they did they mix and match the stories like that, I wonder. In this instance, Armada have taken the trouble to state that the stories have been taken from other books. Chapter 1, ‘William the cannibal’, was originally entitled ‘William to the rescue’, which is the last chapter of ‘William in trouble’. ![]() For example, the paperback ‘William the cannibal’ has stories from 4 other books. Sometimes the stories (chapters) have been renamed as well. Some of the Armada books consist of stories taken from various other books, repackaged under a new name. The change seems to have occurred in the fifties. Books 21 and 22 are listed as ‘William and the A.R.P’, and ‘William and the evacuees’ in my oldest books, but in my newer books they are listed as ‘William’s bad resolution’ and ‘William the film star’ respectively. ![]() Some of the older books have been renamed it seems. Richmal Since wrote books about sewing I believe. Since I don't I can't answer that, Ha ha Nigel you knew what I meant, Isn't it Richmal we're talking about not Since? ![]() Susie wrote: I have never heard the name Richmal Since ![]()
